Mexico is one of the great “fun” vacation destinations in the world. Whether you are planning a long weekend or a long month, we will be happy to guide you and help in making your arrangements, so that you can experience the most positively memorable trip ever.
If you are a “beach person,” the destinations of Acapulco, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, Cabo San Lucas will ring sweet to your ears. Perhaps you are culturally oriented – then the great colonial cities of Guanajuato, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi, Morelia, Taxco, Oaxaca, and Puebla will tickle your fancy.
If you are a food aficionado – well, literally anywhere in Mexico will do. Mexican cuisine has such a wonderful variety of tastes and color . . . you are sure to be continually and pleasantly surprised.
Some travelers choose Mexico for a short action-packed get away weekend of fun in the sun. Others prefer to stay a longer while and unwind completely from the pressures of their daily lives. As the closest possible foreign destination for many residing in the U.S. – and the cheapest – Mexico is a logical all-around great choice. Around 150,000 U. S. citizens live in Mexico full-time, and when quizzed on why they made the move – many of their reasons are the same as the reasons vacationers go there; low prices, good weather, good food, and a laid-back atmosphere.
Naturally – as with any major country – there are some basic safety precautions that must be observed. Some areas near borders, or in certain parts of larger cities are advisable to avoid, but there are over 21 million tourists visiting Mexico each year (statistics from the World Tourism Organization), and very few have any problems at all. As a tourist destination – Mexico ranks as the 10th most popular destination for visitors in the world.
Being so close, various airlines offer very low fares to several of the cities across the country. For American citizens, flights to Mexico often cost much less to fly round-trip to a wonderful vacation destination than it costs to fly to vacation spots in their own country! A quick example (each distance approximately the same): Houston to Chicago round trip $770 while Houston to Mexico City round trip $457. Another example (again distance approx the same): Miami to New Orleans $642 while Miami to Merida (on the Yucatan peninsula) $590.
Another advantage of taking a trip to Mexico is the opportunity to bring back purchases one has made while in the country – and save a bundle on what the same item would have cost if bought in the U.S. These bargain goods include; leather products of all kinds, liquor of certain kinds, hand-made fabric items, silver jewelry, and many others.
For some, there is a concern about travel safety in Mexico. The Mexican people are good, friendly people – and (again – as in all countries) other than a few “bad-eggs” you will in all likelihood only encounter folks who are courteous and helpful, open and honest. Take the usual precautions smart travelers take everywhere, and try to stick to the main resort areas. As well, in these resort areas the quality of service offered is of a very high quality, and you can expect the best.
At Flights to Mexico, we look forward to helping you arrange your vacation, and sending you on your way to one of the most fascinating countries on any person’s vacation spot short-list.
